You won’t believe where they found the missing python

The missing 3,8m albino Burmese python, which had many Benonians on high alert for more than a day, has been found.

The owner of Titan Reptiles and Breeding Facility, Mark McGill, found the snake in his shop, at the Oakfields Shopping Centre, this morning.

The reptile, Bubbles, was discovered less than 1m from the area in which it went missing.

Bubbles was reported missing on Wednesday morning, a day after it was moved into a new cage.

Westley Cloete, who lives behind the Oakfields Shopping Centre, had to take his girlfriend, Tarryn Bird, to the reptile store this morning, to assure her that the python had been found and to finally put her mind at ease.

Bird said she locked her pets and children in the house after hearing the news of the missing snake.

”I did this because I heard it was a grumpy and angry snake,” said Bird.

She explained that she promised her domestic worker that she would fetch her 12-year-old son from Arbor Primary School until the snake was recovered.

McGill is perplexed at how the snake went missing after an extensive search for it in the shop.

”I am not convinced that five people could not find her,” he said.

He said the entire 50 m2 shop was searched, but it turned up nothing.

McGill opened the shop on Wednesday morning, to find spider cages had fallen off a shelf.

He believes the snake climbed the rack and overturned those items.

He opened the shop on Thursday and there had been no disturbance.

McGill said he will study video footage this weekend, to determine how the snake exited the shop and returned.

He has been accused of using the news as a publicity stunt, but he vehemently denies this.

Concerns were raised by members of the public as fear spread of the danger the missing snake could pose for people and animals.

McGill said the snake is not dangerous, and that Bubbles would probably not have attempted to eat anything because it would be too cold to digest the food.

He added that Bubbles is part of the shop and that people often visit the shop just to see it.

The snake, which weighs about 30kg, is doing well, although it sustained several surface scratches, that might be from the shards of broken glass from the spider cage.

  1. Okay… and these Spider cages that were knocked and smashed… have the spiders been retrieved????????

  2. It’s not hard to believe 5 people could not find Bubbles. The people who work there all look rather daft and useless.
