The suspects were found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Two suspects were arrested on the N12 highway, near Snake Road, on August 1, following a shootout through the busy streets of Benoni with security officers from NoJack Vehicle Tracking and Anti-hijacking Unit.

This comes after the pair attempted to hijack a woman in Bardene, Boksburg.

According to NoJack Vehicle Tracking’s Anton Koen, the suspects started shooting at the NoJack Anti-hijacking Unit officers when they noticed that they were following them.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said the police received a backup message from security officers who were chasing suspects in a White Ford Ranger double cab.
