A family of three from Lulus Caravan Park in Bredell are appealing for donations after they lost all their belongings in a fire on July 2.

Elsie Paulsen, who is the family’s spokesperson, explained that Jason Lubbe and his girlfriend, Bernice Mare, and their 18 month old son, Xavier, went to the shop at around 18:00, leaving a candle burning in their home.

Upon their return, they found their home on fire and others battling the blaze.

Paulsen said the fire department was called but didn’t arrive.

“On the same night, the owner of the caravan park, Lulu de Beer, offered the family alternative shelter. The family lost the little that they had. With Jason being the only one employed, they are barely making ends meet,” said Paulsen.

The family is appealing for food, clothing, a bed, toiletries and anything else that could assist them.

Donations can be dropped off at 15 Amentis Street in Farrarmere or contact Paulsen on 082 399 3671.
