Bowlers to feed the homeless

“Winter is here. We have more homeless people living on our streets than ever before. The reality is that they need our help.”

The Benoni Bowling Club hopes to feed about 300 homeless people living on the streets of the CBD and other parts of the town during its soup kitchen drive on June 8.

“Winter is here. We have more homeless people living on our streets than ever before. The reality is that they need our help,” the club said.

“We are appealing for financial assistance or donations in the form of ingredients for the soup, bread or bread rolls.

“General Supplies in Benoni donated all the containers and lids for the soup and Afriforum will be accompanying our members when we take to the streets to ensure that every hungry belly is fed.

“As far as ingredients are concerned, we are looking for tins of tomato and onion, carrots, turnips, leeks, potatoes, celery, pasta shells, barley, beef or chicken stock, chicken and meat.
