Young Daveyton artist hopes to travel the world showing his artwork

He advises young artists to always work on their crafts.

Budding visual artist Luvuno Shongwe of East Rand School of the Arts, has honoured his favourite artist, Ndumiso Mdletshe, popularly knowns as Ndu Browns, with a portrait.

The Grade Eight learner from Daveyton said he looks up to him and would love to meet him one day.
He has also drawn pictures of other local celebrities including the late rapper AKA, comedian William KRM, his parents and siblings.

Luvuno’s love for art started at a young age when he used to draw cars and people on a piece of paper.

“When my father realised that I loved to draw and had the talent, he decided to enrol me at East Rand School of the Arts.

“I’ve learnt a lot since I came to this school. I’ve learnt about the different textures of drawing and designing using recycled products,” said Luvuno.

The 14-year-old said he hopes one day his passion for visual art will allow him to travel the world and showcase his artwork.

He advises young artists not to give up and always work on their crafts.
