Help Benoni biokineticist run the MUT to raise funds for Hospice

The George MUT is nestled in the middle of the Garden Route and Roux plans to complete this adventure to raise funds for Hospice East Rand's palliative care unit.

Biokineticist Kirsty Roux is taking on the gruelling George Mountain Ultra Trail ‘MUT’ by UTMB, along the Outeniqua Mountains, on May 27.

In her first adventure of this nature, Roux is taking this 100km trail run with a 4855m elevation to raise funds for Hospice East Rand.

“I am running in honour of those who are ill, in honour of those who would love to run but can’t. I am running in recognition and thanks to the angels that work at Hospice East Rand, who dedicate their lives to service and serving.

Kirsty Roux was the first female BNAC runner to cross the finish line.

“I wants to use this experience as a platform to do something meaningful. To be able to run is a gift and a great privilege and I want to use this opportunity to celebrate this wonderful gift and hopefully make a difference,” she said.

Roux is going to use this adventure to generate awareness around Hospice’s palliative care service for those who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.

The funds she will raise will be used to provide care for patients who are not in a position to afford it.

“It has been a tough year all round so far, not least for the NPO sector. Every penny is turned over six times in their quest to provide excellent home-based palliative care for their patients and their families.

“Hospice East Rand came to the rescue providing love, support and expert care to both my grans in their fights against cancer and we are grateful for their selfless service to our family. I know so many of you have been touched by the Hospice angels assisting your loved ones in their time of need too.”
