Organisation educates youth about dangers of substance abuse

"We saw the need to educate the youth because we see that our brothers and sisters are losing their future by abusing drugs and alcohol.”

Creating a drug-free community was the central message at the Simphile Development Centre’s fourth substance abuse awareness campaign in Daveyton recently.

According to the organisation’s Siphiwe Nzimande, the campaign aimed to educate the public about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse.

“As an organisation, we saw the need to educate the youth because we see that our brothers and sisters are losing their future by abusing drugs and alcohol,” he said.

Nzimande added that they want to rid their community of drugs so that the youth can have a better future.
Community members came in numbers to listen to presentations by representatives from SANCA, SAPS and ARCA.

“The event was a huge success. I would like to thank all the stakeholders who came through and all those who donated. I also want to thank everyone who contributed to making this event a success.”
