Man arrested and hostage released
He will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate Court soon.
A 31-year-old man from Daveyton was arrested on November 28 after it is alleged that he assaulted a 21-year-old woman and took her against her will.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, EMPD spokesperson, members of the Bronberg Precinct received information that the man had assaulted the victim with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm.
“The information further indicated that the suspect had kept the victim hostage at his home,” she said.
“Officers reacted immediately and were deployed to the suspect’s residence in Chris Hani, where he was arrested and the victim released.”
Upon his arrest he was charged with assault but additional charges may be brought against him.
He will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
