SAAFA toasts another successful year

The association continues to bring aviation experts and enthusiasts together

Sitting in a room filled with aeronautical enthusiasts and former employees within the field, one could easily write volumes of books about the adventures of these highly trained men and women.

With aviator sunglasses at nearly every place setting, members of the South African Air Force Association (SAAFA) East Rand Branch recently raised a glass to the association’s ongoing efforts and made a toast to the new year at its year-end function at The Shed and Silo Restaurant.

Chester Chandler spent 42 years in aviation, working as a pilot until the age 52 and retaining his license up to the age of 73.

“It is with a great sense of pride that we end this year off,” said chairperson Roelf Rossouw.

“Our love for flying and all that goes into making it happen has brought us all together to share our tales.

“This shared interest has not only given us a platform to meet but has led to us all becoming close friends.”

Members of the SAAFA committee, Roelf Rossouw (back), David Tayler and Marj Malan.

Rossouw hopes that 2023 will see more aviation enthusiasts joining the association to ensure that East Rand SAAFA branch will continue to grow, not only in numbers but in knowledge too.
