The police would like to thank the public who assisted in the search for the suspect

The police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the disappearance of four-year-old Bokgabo Poo of Wattville.

Bokgabo went missing in the area on October 10 while playing with a friend in Masoleng Park.

CCTV footage of Bokgabo walking in the street with a man has been making the rounds on social media. Police then launched a manhunt for the man in the CCTV footage.

According to the provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, the man was spotted by a member of the community in Boksburg North who then swiftly alerted the police.

“The police are interviewing the suspect about the whereabouts of the child. We thank the public who assisted in the search for the suspect,” said Masondo.

Speaking to the Actonville station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Louis Maluleke is Gauteng community safety MEC Faith Mazibuko during her visit in Wattville.

Bokgabo was wearing orange shorts, a purple vest with a ‘Sophia’ cartoon print and red and white flip-flops when she went missing.

It is reported that Bokgabo played with a neighbour’s child at the park when they were approached by a man who sent the friend to the shop.

According to the police, when the five-year-old friend came back, Bokgabo and the man were not there. The search continues.

Gauteng community safety MEC Faith Mazibuko visited the Poo family in Wattville on October 13 to offer support to the family during this difficult time.
