The Ekurhuleni district recently honoured five members of the Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for playing their part in ensuring justice is served for GBV victims.

Five detectives from the unit received certificates of outstanding performance for securing lengthy sentences against rape and kidnapping perpetrators.

Among them is Detective Sergeant Basetsana Mahlangu, who secured two life terms against Lucky Magagula of Ilitshe Legumbi Church who raped and sexually assaulted minors in Etwatwa,

Giving credit where it’s due, Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole thanked the detectives for their hard work and also urged them to continue taking GBV cases seriously.
