Neon Walk lights up Korsmans

Young and old dressed in neon colours to participate in the second annual BLF event

Sporting bright neon colours and glow sticks, more than 1 000 walkers took to The Drive, Lakefield, to take part in the second Neon Walk, hosted by the Benoni Ladies Forum (BLF) on September 10.

Held under the silver light of the full moon, walkers young and old enjoyed scrumptious food and a host of activities before lighting up the street to stroll around the Korsman Bird Sanctuary.

“We are so grateful for the massive turnout at this year’s event,” said Amina Bhabha, BLF chairman.

“We were stunned at the number of people who registered for the walk as well as those who just popped around to support our food vendors.”

Minutes before the start of the second annual BLF Neon Walk, more than a 1 000 participants lined up at the starting line, which took them on a scenic stroll around the Korsmans Bird Sanctuary.

Bhabha said that the event continues to go from strength to strength due to the community’s support.

“All funds raised during this event will further fund our ongoing community projects,” she said.

“We would like to thank everyone for making the event a huge success as well as our CPF and Bad Boyz for marshalling the walk, ensuring that everyone felt safe and secure while enjoying the splendid environment.”

Members of the Benoni CPF along with Bad Boyz marshalled the event.
