Garlands meet gardening guru Linda Galvad

“Making informed healthy choices is key to good health.”

The Garland Ladies Luncheon Club hosted Gardening 101’s Linda Galvad at their monthly meeting on June 23.

The horticultural expert and owner of Sought after Seedlings has become synonymous not only with growing and nurturing beautifully lush gardens but also cultivating wholesome organic foods.

According to Galvad, many modern-day ailments can be managed by consuming the right balance of whole organic foods.

“Healing the body isn’t only about what you put in but also about the process of cultivating these foods,” she said.

“Gardening is a great stress reliever as it promotes the release of serotonin, the body’s natural feel good endorphin.

“But the production of serotonin stems from the gut, not the brain as previously believed.”

She continued by saying that in order to create the ideal internal system to ensure optimal health, individuals need to make better lifestyle choices.

“The world we are living in is fast-paced and demanding and therefore we often choose to consume what is easy and quick, which is not necessarily the healthiest choices,” she said.

“Where possible avoid acid producing foods like, gluten, sugar, coffee, alcohol, black tea and dairy.”

The Garland Ladies meet monthly at Ebotse. Members and non-members are welcome.
