School shoes bring excitement to learners
Albertina Sisulu Primary School Principal, Simphiwe Dywili, thanked officials for the heart-warming donations received
A total of 100 learners from Albertina Sisulu Primary School in Kingsway will now walk tall as they wear new school shoes.
This is thanks to a combined partnership between officials from Modderbee Correctional Centre, JMPD, SANDF and Emergency Medical Services.
The handover of the school shoes took place on May 19, when more than 30 officials gathered at the school to surprise learners.
According to Mabore Molokela of the Modderbee Correctional Centre, they thought about this initiative in January after seeing learners going to school with torn and colourful school shoes.
“We then decided to rope in other departments to assist in this worthy cause. With these shoes, we want to bring hope, love and warmth to the learners so that they can have bright futures,” said Molokela.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, principal Simphiwe Dywili thanked officials for the heart-warming donation saying the school shoes will bring dignity to the beneficiaries.
