UPDATE: Local church grateful for donations received for KZN flood victims

The donated items were distributed to those who need them the most.

The Northfield Methodist Church would like to thank everyone who donated to their outreach programme to assist KwaZulu-Natal flooding victims.

A truckload full of donated toiletries, non-perishable foods, clothing, blankets, drinkable water, boxes, Bibles and teddy bears made its way to Pietermaritzburg on April 25, all thanks to Good Samaritans who donated.

According to Pastor Khaya Mnyanda, head of mission and outreach, they have since distributed the items to affected families in Pietermaritzburg and Durban, respectively.

“As a church, we are overwhelmed by the donation we received from people all over the East Rand.

“We would like to thank volunteers from the church and from other organisations who spent their time sorting out the goods accordingly,” said Mnyanda.

The church is still a drop-off point.

Anyone who would like to donate can drop off the essential items at the church, corner Aerodrome Drive and Webb Street, Airfield, from 08:00 to 19:00.
