Help Rotarians set a world record

They will attempt to break the world record of the longest line of food cans.

Members of the Benoni Aurora Rotary Anns, in collaboration with Round Table Golden East 181, aim to create the longest line using food cans, approximately 6.7km, in July.

The food cans will then be donated to various organisations including animal shelters on the East Rand.

Leading up to the day, members of the Benoni Aurora Rotary Anns stood for long hours outside the Farrarmere Pick n Pay on April 30 collecting tinned food

Two trolleys with tons of tinned food, including pet food, were filled, all thanks to Good Samaritans.

According to Rachêl Ulyate, they will also attempt to break the current world record of the longest line of food cans, which is 3.28km.

“Our goal is to tie the event up with Mandela Day but we will communicate the venue and date once we have finalised the details.

“So far we haven’t decided which organisations will receive the cans but they be donated to those in need within the greater East Rand area,” said Ulyate.
