Super Cops donates sporting kit to young baseball players

According to the boys, baseball is fun, and it gives them a thrill.

Two Benoni youngsters who have been chosen to represent Gauteng’s u-12 baseball team in Cape Town in the next coming weeks have received a boost of a new sporting kit from Super Cops.

Super Cops recently handed over the brand-new kit to twins Keagan and Oakley Brooklyn, who play for the Benoni Northerns Indians Baseball Club.

According to Lionel Marks of Super Cops, they were approached by Marinda Beukes, the chairperson of the Avenues Residents Association, to assist with purchasing the uniform that the boys would wear in Cape Town.

“Because Super Cops is a community-driven company when we were asked to sponsor the uniform, I agreed with an open heart. It gives me joy to see children doing exceptionally well in their sports,” said Marks.

Beukes said the young twins deserved the uniform because they have always been involved with community projects.

Their father, Ross Brooklyn, said his sons started playing baseball three years ago after falling in love with the sport.

“I used to train them every day to get them where they are now. They love baseball very much; however, because of the Covid-19 lockdown, they had a gap of no baseball during those seasons,” he said.

Brooklyn added that last year, the twins received trophies for the club player of the year and coach’s player of the year, respectively.
Expressing gratitude, Oakley, who is a catcher, said they are thankful to Super Cops for reaching out to them.

Keagan and Oakley Brooklyn said they are excited to be part of the u-12 Gauteng baseball team.

“We are very happy and excited to go to Cape Town. I am going to prove Gauteng wrong by winning against Cape Town,” said Oakley.
Keagan, who is a pitcher, shared that baseball is fun, and it gives him a thrill.
