East Rand Caravan World is inviting potjiekos lovers to be part of their exciting potjie competition on March 5 at their premises on Cnr North Rand and Elizabeth roads. The competition will form part of the company’s grand opening.
The entry fee for the competition is R250. All proceeds raised will go towards the Benoni SPCA.
Thomas Leifert of East Rand Caravan World said: “We thought it would be more fun to involve the community rather than just having a normal grand opening. Because we are also animal lovers, we decided to reach out to the Benoni SPCA.”
Leifert said the competition is open to 15 teams.
“Confirmation of participation must be done by February 25. Prizes will be awarded to the best starter, main dish, dessert, team décor and team spirit. Winners will be judged by well-known chefs. Stalls will be available on the day while entertainment will be provided for children,” said Leifert.
One of the main sponsors of the event, Kaufman, has donated 80kg of dog food, which will be presented to the Benoni SPCA on the day.
Attendees are encouraged to bring animal food on the day. East Rand Caravan World owner Francois Swart added that the team that donates the most pet food will receive a special award.
