Hundreds of track and field athletes descended on the Boksburg Stadium for the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) first league meeting on January 29.

The athletes were working towards a qualification for the Athletics South Africa (ASA) National Championships in April.

“We have the provincial championships in March. We are going to look at the times posted by the athletes from all these league meetings and then select a team for the national championships,” said CGA’s Mandla Radebe.

Athletes from Boksburg and Benoni came in their numbers.
