Flying Squad swoops in on criminals

Members conducted a stop-and-search of a white Toyota Quantum and found it was hijacked.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad confiscated counterfeit shoes and recovered a hijacked vehicle on January 24 on the R555, Etwatwa.

Members conducted a stop-and-search of a white Toyota Quantum and found that it was hijacked in Johannesburg in November last year.

The driver was arrested, and the vehicle and counterfeit items were seized.

While being detained at the Etwatwa Police Station, a man claiming to be the suspect’s friend offered officers R2 000 for his release.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with bribery.

Katlehong
Const Juan-Mare Eksteen along with a support team confiscated an unlicensed .38 revolver, two live rounds, and arrested one suspect on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Const Eksteen received information that an armed man was in Motsamia Street, Hlahane.

Upon arrival, the suspect stopped her and admitted that he had hidden the firearm in a broken TV set.

Eksteen is lauded for her actions, which led to the success as she was off duty at the time of receiving the information but reported to duty and mobilised a support team.

Two suspects were arrested for being in possession of an undisclosed amount of crystal methamphetamine.
All suspects in the above-mentioned cases have been remanded in police custody.
