Foundation gives school a new kitchen

“We were instrumental in the opening of the school's library in 2019 and have since been very involved,” said Janap Biemba, senior development project coordinator of the 100% Foundation.

The 100% Foundation recently donated a new kitchen to its “adopted” school, Chief Albert Luthuli Primary School.

The foundation has been assisting the school with its wish list since 2019.

“We were instrumental in the opening of the school’s library in 2019 and have since been very involved,” said Janap Biemba, senior development project coordinator of the 100% Foundation.

“Our involvement with the school has since grown, where we supported a few of their educational programmes, the RCL leadership camps, African language poetry trophies and computer lab chairs. We recently received communication to assist with the kitchen of the school. The cupboards were falling apart and the shelves were collapsing, so we sent our expert team from our donor company, Affinity Health, to assess the need.

“We believe it is important to create a workable environment for kitchen staff who cook meals at the school for the children daily.”

The 100% Foundation helps this primary school as much as it can, but it also helps many other early childhood development (ECD) centres.

“We have a Christmas wish list that we would like to ask the community to help us in getting together,” she explained.

The 100% Foundation wish list:

• Sixty mattresses for ECD centres

• Outside paint – various bright colours

• Mats

• Educational charts

• Sixteen ECD tables with chairs

If you can assist the foundation with any of these items or with a cash donation, contact Biemba on 082 704 1012.
