Aintree riders love what they do

Of the high school riders at Regionals, Aintree had four girls qualify for nationals, who will represent Gauteng on October 9.

Aintree SA riding school and stable yard had a great day at Gauteng Regionals in September at Kyalami Equestrian Park for High School and Primary School.

Aintree SA had seven riders compete in showjumping, five from high school and two from primary school.
Regionals are where the girls were selected from the three qualifiers held during the year to represent the Ekurhuleni district.

Of the high school riders at Regionals, Aintree had four girls qualify for nationals, who will represent Gauteng on October 9.

The results for high school were:

• Logan Landsberg (16) from Sion Private Academy and Keira-Leigh Wissing-Dollman (16) from Hoërskool Hans Moore

They competed in the 70cm showjumping in both classes.

Logan with horse Doc Holiday received an eighth place in one of her classes qualifying for Nationals, and four penalties in the other.

Keira-Leigh with horse Levendi received a third and fourth place in her classes, qualifying for Nationals for both her classes.

• Cara Jackson (17) from Benoni High, Eryn Preston (15) from Jeppe High School for Girls and Anzel Momberg (15) from Reddam House Bedfordview College

They represented Aintree SA in the 90cm classes. Anzel, with horse Shady Oak, had two good rides for their classes, ending with four penalties on both classes.

Eryn with horse Ashgar Night Sky received a ninth place in one of her classes qualifying for Nationals, and four penalties in her second class. Cara with horse Mystic received a fourth place in both classes, qualifying for Nationals for both classes.

The results for primary school were:

• Eva Henderson represented Dunvegan Primary School and Danika Coetzee (12) represented Laerskool Oosterkruin Primary.

Both girls competed in 60cm showjumping for the season.

Eva competed on Enigma and Danike competed on Swish Chick. Eva made regionals and represented Gauteng Ekurhuleni and came 18th out of 31 riders

“All our riders rode extremely well and did our yard and riding school proud,” said Louise Kennedy, instructor at Aintree.
