Kingsway suspects arrested and additionally charged for bribery

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of explosives, possession of housebreaking implements and damaging essential infrastructure.

On August 3 at around 20:00, Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) officers followed up on information at a residence in Kingsway that led to the arrest of four suspects.

“They were found in possession of mercury and explosive cords. The suspects will be facing additional charges after they attempted to bribe officers with R1 500,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.

“On the same evening at around 21:55, alert officers patrolling High Road, Pomona, noticed a man tampering with a Telkom box.

“Upon stopping, the officers found a suspect had vandalised the infrastructure and he was found in possession of house break-in implements.

“He was arrested and his implements confiscated.”

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts to face charges of possession of explosives, possession of housebreaking implements and damaging essential infrastructure.
