Six arrested by BFS

Investigation continues in all cases.

It was a busy three days for officers of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) who made six arrests and recovered four vehicles.

“Officers arrested one suspect in Winnie Mandela Zone One, Thembisa; one in Mayfield, Extension One, Putfontein, and one in North Rand Road, Kempton Park, for possession of and dealing in drugs,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.

“Dagga over one kilogram was confiscated in these separate incidents.”

According to Giblin, BFS officers also followed up on information in Ivory Park Extension Two of a white Toyota Hiace that was reported stolen on a Putfontein case.

“In Freedom Drive, the vehicle was recovered and one suspect arrested in possession thereof,” he explained.

“Two were arrested after it was discovered that the truck they were driving was wanted for a fraud case relating to computers in a Rosebank case on corner Zesfontien and Birch Road, Putfontein.”

In further policing, three abandoned hijacked vehicles were recovered:

• Silver Nissan Almera at Emfihlweni cemetery, Thembisa, reported on a Thembisa case
• Grey Toyota Fortuner at Dersley, Springs, reported on an Etwatwa case
• White Nissan NP200 in Isando Road, Kempton Park, reported on a Protea Glen case.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of stolen motor vehicles, fraud, dealing in, and possession of drugs.
