A brush with local artists: Meet Steven Davies

A selection committee will then judge the work for approval, following application for membership for the following full year.

Steven Davies is passionate about wildlife and aviation, which can be seen in most of his paintings at the monthly Benoni Art Route exhibition.

The Benoni resident was born in Salisbury Rhodesia in 1970 but grew up in South Africa.

He matriculated in 1988 and thereafter attended the Air Force Gymnasium Valhalla.

There his love for aircraft grew during a year spent in Hoedspruit where he watched Mirage’s coming and going and he flew in Puma helicopters on odd casevacs.

As a child, he loved to sketch wildlife and had a grandmother who, as a commercial artist, nurtured his talent.

He is known as Steven Davies Art and he paints from home. With his themed paintings, Steven also takes on client commissions.
