Daveyton police warn against a spike in crimes

The Daveyton Police Station will also intensify police visibility around the area.

Following the recent number of hijackings, armed robberies, and rapes in the Daveyton area, the police are urging residents to be vigilant.

Daveyton SAPS spokesperson Sgt Constance Moalusi said they urge drivers to be always on the lookout for any suspicious vehicles that may be following them.

“We also encourage those who park on pavements and sit inside their vehicles while visiting their partners or family members to avoid doing so as they attract criminals,” said Moalusi.

“We urge residents to take note of this warning from the police.”

Tips to avoid becoming a victim:

• Be on the lookout for suspicious people.

• Be familiar with your environment.

• Lock your car doors.

• Park inside the yard or garage.

• Avoiding sitting in or using your cellphone in your car at night.

Moalusi added that Covid-19 regulations are still enforced including the curfew. No person should be in the street without a permit from 11pm to 4am.
