Two arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, goods in Etwatwa

The duo was taken to the Etwatwa Police Station and will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.

Two men were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, suspected stolen property and ammunition on May 11 in Kopie Mathebang, Etwatwa.

EMPD acting spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the EMPD Equestrian Unit officers on patrol arrested two men.

“Around 8.50am, EMPD officers were flagged by a vehicle tracking company requesting for back-up in pursuit of the repeating signal of a reported stolen vehicle parked at nearby houses.

“The crime-fighting unit answered the call and a house in Kopie Mathebang was visited.

“Two cooperative occupants found in the yard welcomed the officers, and as the members were checking out the place a suspicious-looking silver Renault Clio found on the premises was tested. The results came back as robbed in Daveyton in March.

“The Mercedes-Benz parked next to the Renault did not have any means of identification, a loose half-stripped motor vehicle engine and didn’t have the identification number.

Kobeli said the officers also uncovered 10 official documents utilised by licensing departments to register and licence a vehicle, utensils used to punch vehicle engines and VINs, 25 fake licence disc documents, few newly engraved vehicle tags and number or registration plates, vehicle braking types of equipment and 20 live round designed for 9mm pistols, 303 rifles and shotguns.
