On April 10 the Gauteng East Regional Tournament for the BNP Paribas Rising Star National Primary and High school tennis championships took place in Benoni.

Results are as follows:

• Primary school girls, first place – Hurlyvale Primary School (Edenvale)

• Primary school boys, first place – Laerskool Rynfield (Benoni) and second place – Curro Serengeti (Kempton Park)

• High school girls, first place – Hoër Volksskool A (Heidelberg), second place – Hoër Volksskool B (Heidelberg), third place – Ashton College (Benoni) and fourth place – Hoërskool Hans Moore (Benoni).

• High school boys, first place – Hoër Volksskool A (Heidelberg), second place – Hoër Volksskool B (Heidelberg), third place – Ashton College A (Benoni), fourth place – Hoërskool Kempton Park (Kempton Park), fifth place – Hoërskool Hans Moore A (Benoni), sixth place – Ashton College B (Benoni) and seventh place – Hoërskool Hans Moore B (Benoni).

The winners move on to the provincial tournament which will take place later this year, culminating in the national final.
