Gauteng Karate Federation (GKF) Championship

They have also been selected for the GKF team, which will be competing at the KSA Children's Championship in Durban from March 5 to March 7.

Three Crystal Park Dojo Tigers members, who are team members of the Ekurhuleni Karate Federation (EKF), took part in the Gauteng Karate Federation (GKF) Championship from February 19 to February 21.

They placed well according to sensei Louis Ramakulukusha.

They have also been selected for the GKF team, which will be competing at the KSA Children’s Championship in Durban from March 5 to 7.

Here they will stand a chance of being selected into the KSA national team.

“I hosted a three-week intense training camp with these boys,” Ramakulukusha explained.

“I shared with them and the rest of my dojo my experiences to prepare them for this championship. They trained their individual kata, team kata and kumite in the mornings and the evenings

“As a result, they were blazing the fire and ready to claim their victories.”

Ramakulukusha, sixth dan black belt, Crystal Park Dojo head and senior coach of EKF, is a seasoned competitor who is ranked third in Karate South Africa (KSA).

He also took home a silver medal for the Commonwealth Karate Championship in 2018.

“I am very proud of their success,” he said

“They have already started with their preparations for this next event. I will also be taking part in the seniors championship, which will take place mid-March 2021.

“We wish the Crystal Park Dojo Tigers members good luck in their championships for this year.”

Results are as follows:

• Sensei Louis got silver in the highly contested male’s veterans kata division and a bronze medal in the veterans kumite division.

• Seth Mjodzi got a bronze medal in the boys 11 years old under – 40kg division and a bronze in the boys 7-13 unison kata division.

• Ntokozo Ntuli got a silver medal in kata in the boys 11 years old division. He then obtained a gold medal in a highly contested boys 11 years old under – 40kg division and a bronze in the boys 7-13 unison kata division.

• Ockert Winter got a bronze in the boys 7-13 unison kata division.
