Two men and a woman were arrested for armed robbery recently in Cloverdene.
Spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mopeli said according to the victim, he was walking along Cloverdene Road when a white Chevrolet stopped next to him.
“The female robber jumped out of the vehicle and pointed a firearm at him. She demanded his cellphone and wallet,” said Mopeli.
“As she took his belongings, a man climbed out of the vehicle while the perpetrator climbed back into the car, which sped away.”
Mopeli said the victim screamed for help and the community members managed to apprehend the man.
“Patrolling police were informed about the incident. They followed up on the information and the vehicle was found in the area,” she said.
However, the police did not found the cellphone and firearm. The vehicle was taken to the Benoni pound.
All three suspects were arrested and will appear in court soon.
A case of armed robbery was opened at the Crystal Park Police Station.
