Christmas Cheer fund reaches over R 70 000 in donations

Residents can visit the SPCA at 3 Klein Street, Lakefield, or contact them on 011 894 2814 to find out how they can make a difference in the lives of the furry friends.

The Benoni SPCA is closing its Christmas Cheer fund on January 15 and has raised R73 311.

This almost doubles the funds raised last year which amounted to R45 620.

The fund has been running annually for 14 years over the festive season. In 2020 it was launched on October 15 to raise funds for a new puppy nursery kennel block.

The organisation’s chairperson, Diane Wooldridge, said the kennel block will have to be constructed with bricks and to strict specifications.

“We also want a little play area outside the block under thatch with lots of toys for the pups.”
