Local gym empowers women

After a dance workout the participants learnt how to throw a punch and look sassy at the same time

Recently, the VIP Boxing Academy, in Benoni CBD held an event to empower women in light of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

“It was a day that we spent empowering women with tips on fitness, finance and wealth,” explained Amahle Mahlasela of the academy.

“We organised this event to ensure women know that they have the power to overcome any situation and grow with their scars.”

In a fun and vibrate atmosphere, Nicole Muller, from Pinnacle Palace, provided participants with a dance workout class that helped them loosen up and also aided the women on how to throw a punch but still look sassy while doing it.

“We wanted to empower women not to be victims but rise and be victorious – although we know this will not happen overnight,” she explained

“We firstly have to be confident in our own skin.

“The dance workout was to make exercising fun while you lose weight and also gain some techniques, like how to defend yourself but only when needed – we don’t promote violence.”

Participants received expert advice on eating healthily, good skin routines, excercising and money management too.

The next event is on December 12 and also free for everyone to join.
