Dancing her way to stardom

Although this year put an end to studio training as well as competitions, being the determined young dancer that she is, she continued with virtual lessons.

Madison Dallas is a Grade Six learner at St Dunstan’s and is racking up achievements.

She dances five days a week and maintains a high practice routine.

Before the lockdown, she was honored to have done as much as she could when it came to dance, to name a few:

• Received her cultural honors badge for dance in 2019 as well as the Dancer of the Year Trophy for 2018 and 2019.

• Competed overseas, since 2017, and ranked in the top three in her age group, winning multiple championships representing South Africa in Germany, England and Croatia.

Competed virtually in numerous international competitions:

• First in the SABOD Creative Connect International online competition in her age group.

• Ranked 11th in the world in the Dance Unlimited competition, and currently.

• Ranked top three dancers in the world in her age group for the Dancer of the Year Title for lyrical dance.

• Received Diploma Status for all three dances in the National Eisteddfod in October.

• Competed in an international competition with over 7 000 entries and came first for her modern and jazz, and will represent South Africa in the finals in December.

Madison was one of 12 ballet dancers chosen to represent South Africa in an International Dance Student Exchange programme in Denmark, which was done virtually.

She also competed on the stage early November for the first time since lockdown and received a High Gold for her ballet, Ultimate Gold for modern and lyrical, as well as a Judges’ Special Award.
