Attend seminar on sexual violence and human trafficking

Presented by Trauma Support SA, there will be two expert guest speakers on the topic

The public is invited to a trauma-wise informed seminar titled “Responding to the harsh realities of sexual violence and human trafficking in South Africa”.

Presented by Trauma Support SA, there will be two expert guest speakers on the topic: Christa Rollin is the director and founder of the NPO, the Sexual Assault Clinic, and of Rollin Medico-Legal Consulting in Benoni.

As a registered nurse for 26 years and a trained forensic nurse, Rollin has conducted over 2 600 sexual assault forensic examinations. She specialises in child abuse matters and provides forensic examinations to child victims of abuse. She will be discussing forensics and sexual violence.

Diane Wilkinson is the CEO of the National Freedom Network, which comprises people and organisations working against human trafficking across the country. She first learnt about human trafficking in 2009, after returning to SA and in light of the upcoming Soccer World Cup.

Wilkinson has worked in the counter-human trafficking space for a decade and still strongly believes networking and collaboration are some of the most strategic responses to human trafficking. She is also an active member of the Gauteng Anti-Trafficking in Persons Task Team and the National Intersectoral Committee for Trafficking in Persons. Her talk will be focused on the reality of human trafficking in South Africa.
