A new kitchen from the 100% Foundation

This year the school has identified they need a container to use as a feeding scheme kitchen.

Rynfield NPO 100% Foundation recently assisted in renovating and donating towards a newly implemented kitchen for the Kagcisham Women Development Centre in Johannesburg South.

“Not only did we help with the renovations, but we have been and still are supporting Kagcisham with monthly donations and operational resources to keep the organisation fully operational so they are able to achieve their goals of reaching out to the children and the community at large,” explained Janap Biemba, the senior development and projects coordinator of 100% Foundation.

The Kagcisham Women Development Center is an NPO based in the Protea South informal settlement, which assists children from disadvantaged backgrounds and was founded with the aim of uplifting vulnerable children from underserved communities.

“We believe every child deserves to be given the chance to reach their full potential and our aim is to do what we can to lift the barriers that keep them in the shackles of their circumstances,” said Amelia Zulu, founder of Kagcisham.

Kagcisham Women Development Centre operates from Protea South Primary School, and 100% Foundation has been in partnership with the school for the past three years.

This year the school has seen the need to receive a donation of a container to use as a feeding scheme kitchen.

“We had to source support from organisations and private companies to make this possible and we are happy to say African Bank donated a generous amount towards the kitchen renovations, but because the donated amount could not cover all the expenses we had to request more support and 100% Foundation came and saved the day by also donating towards the renovation,” said Zulu.

Their feeding scheme kitchen was revamped and given a new look, with the electricity being set up, plumbing installed and receiving much-needed items for the kitchen.

Kagcisham Women Development Centre celebrated the kitchen by hosting a launch for their donors and some of their beneficiaries.

“The launch was a huge success and we are happy that now we can fulfil our promise to our donors and beneficiaries by serving two meals per day for six days,” said Zulu.

Kagcisham’s has made a huge impact on the lives of many throughout the lockdown.

During lockdown, Kagcisham supplied 4 380 families with food parcels sourced from different donors, supplied 1 200 cooked meals and supplied 300 toiletries to young girls and 120 toiletries to young boys.

“It’s all thanks to our donors,” concluded Zulu.

The 100% Foundation assisted with renovating the kitchen for the feeding scheme and still remain fully supportive of Kagcisham.

“It’s always a pleasure to assist such projects, investing in the well-being of children and the community,” said Biemba.

“We wish for a long, healthy, lasting partnership with Kagcisham.”
