Litter Bugs continues to keep the environment clean

Their aim for this clean-up is to encourage people to not litter and to keep the areas around their homes and businesses free of rubbish.

The Litter Bugs dedicated time to pick up litter on the pavement in Goud Street, opposite Ashton College, on October 16 from 2pm to 4pm.

The women from Litter Bugs were joined by the learners and parents from Ashton International Junior College and 3D Academy.

Crystal Gasa (left, 3D Academy), Leigh-Ann Hampson (Ashton International Junior College) and Thato Mashamaite (Ashton International Junior College) helped clean up the pavements.

Their aim for this clean-up is to encourage people to not litter and to keep the areas around their homes and businesses free of rubbish.

The initiative was started in 2015 by Samantha Choles and Anne Mcleman, residents of Farrarmere, after they spent their 67 minutes for Mandela Day picking up litter in their neighbourhood.

On November 7, they will be joined by the Care Creation, Kormas Conservancy and the Western Extension Village Project to clean up the park on West Street and Prince’s Avenue.

Parent Melinda Schneider lent a helping hand.

Members of the public are welcome to join; wear a mask and bring your own gloves and bottle of water.

The learners from Ashton International Junior College, 3D Academy and the women from Litter Bugs joined hands to keep the environment clean.
