Investigation continues in all cases.

Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) officers responded to a complaint of attempted murder in Mistry Street, Actonville, where they arrested one suspect and confiscated a licensed 9mm Smith and Weston pistol with 14 live rounds of ammunition.

“Another suspect was also arrested on the scene for drunken driving,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.

In other incidents earlier this month, the officers arrested 10 suspects, recovered six vehicles, one trailer, and three firearms.

“Sgt Jaco Powell, and Const Thasbiso Mabaso and Const Denovin Norman responded and commenced patrolling in search of the vehicle.

“Shortly after, they followed up on information of a robbed white Nissan NP300 bakkie alleged to be in Rabie Ridge.”

Giblin explained as police neared the location of the bakkie, a gold Etios with two occupants raced around a corner towards them.

“Remembering the lookout for such a vehicle, they immediately pulled the vehicle over. While busy with the Etios, the robbed Nissan bakkie came around the same corner and passed them,” he said.

“Leaving one officer on scene with the Etios, the other two chased the bakkie, leading to the driver abandoning it and running away.

“The Nissan bakkie turned out to have been hijacked on a Thembisa case the previous day.

“Returning to the scene of the Etios, members conducted a thorough search of the suspects and the vehicle leading to the recovery of an unlicensed 9mm Glock pistol with numbers filed off and five live rounds of ammunition.”

Both suspects travelling in the Etios were arrested and the firearm confiscated.

“Five were arrested on Kerk and Bosch roads, Kempton Park, Welamlambo and Ehlanzeni sections, Thembisa, and Magigwana Street, Daveyton, after allegedly being found with drugs. Heroine (nyaope) and Mandrax were confiscated.

“Officers arrested a suspect in Barcelona Extension 25, Etwatwa.

“The suspect was allegedly involved in a business robbery that took place in Springs.”

In further policing, five vehicles and a trailer were recovered, abandoned:
