A 45-year-old man was arrested for murder on September 28 at the N12 informal settlement near Cloverdene.
Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mopeli said police were called to the scene and upon arrival, they found a group of people surrounding a dead body.
“The male body was covered with blankets and had injuries on the upper body,” said Mopeli.
“According to a witness, the incident occurred on September 27 and the witness alleges that the deceased had an argument with the suspect about child maintenance.”
Mopeli said the two then went out of the house and suddenly the witness saw the man standing next to the body.
The suspect was found among the group of people who had gathered near the body and he was then immediately arrested.
The man was declared dead by paramedics.
A case of murder was opened at the Crystal Park Police Station and the man will appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
