How Curro Castle Serengeti is adapting to online learning and Covid-19

We, as a school, have been so excited to accept all our children back to class, which has allowed our children to get back to some form of ‘normality’ and just be children once more.

The world as we know it is changing daily, and at Curro Castle Serengeti you can rest assured that we are more than ready to take on this Covid-19 challenge with full force.

We, as a school, have been so excited to accept all our children back to class, which has allowed our children to get back to some form of ‘normality’ and just be children once more. In order to get our Castle ready for this ‘new challenge’, our management team, teachers and support staff have been hard at work disinfecting, sterilising, deep cleaning and reorganising the entire Castle in accordance to specific Covid-19 regulations and procedures.

Note:  The video was taken before COVID-19.

We have worked extremely hard drawing up strict and exact protocols and procedures that are being followed daily, as our children’s health and safety are paramount.

What a great first few weeks back at school we have had and how well all our Castle children, teachers, and parents have adjusted into the new routine and ‘new’ Castle environment. I am so incredibly proud of all our Castle children on how confidently they arrive in the mornings with great enthusiasm to learn and just have FUN.

We fully understand that many parents have been a little apprehensive about bringing their little ones back during this difficult time, however, most have braved those first few steps back into school and all our parents and children could not be happier. From the beginning of lockdown to now we have created a very successful Castle remote learning programme.

In the beginning, this was certainly a unique challenge for us as a nursery school and as teachers to take on, as remote learning for nursery school was never really done before. As we entered this new way of learning for all involved (teacher, child, and parent), we certainly have learned much along the way.

We are very impressed with the programme that we have set in place and it is certainly working efficiently as much success has come from it. As a school, we have been sending out weekly and daily plans, videos, and demonstrations. Activity packs for the week’s learning activities are also sent out weekly to the parents.

Our teachers are in constant contact with all children and parents throughout the weeks and many have been doing WhatsApp video calls and Microsoft Teams meetings with their children – overall, a very successful remote learning programme!
