SPCA welcomes new inspector

He is delighted to be part of the Benoni SPCA family.

Oageng Mosito recently joined the Benoni SPCA team as the new inspector.

He is excited to be working with the animals and residents of Benoni.

He previously worked at the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) as an inspector and moved to the Benoni branch, where he hopes to educate residents about animal welfare and to prevent cruelty against animals, as well as promote wellness and safety.

Mosito holds an honours degree in basic animal health from the University of North West and later joined a cadet programme with the NSPCA, where he qualified as an inspector.

“I chose to be an inspector because I wanted to apply the skills I acquired in animal welfare and to be a voice to the animals.

“I also want to make a positive impact in the lives of people and their animals through education,” he explained.

His love for animals is influenced by the effect they have on humans.

“Once you adopt a dog, it becomes part of the family, where they have the ability to love and protect you – but who protects them?

“They cannot communicate like humans when they are being ill-treated or hurt and that is when I knew that I wanted to be an advocate on their behalf and give them a second chance”.

He concluded by saying that he is delighted to be part of the Benoni SPCA family.
