Men try to force woman into car at knifepoint in Rynfield

The male passenger who stole her handbag was wearing a balaclava

Police are investigating a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances after a woman was robbed of her handbag by a man in an unknown vehicle on August 24 in Rynfield at around 5.45pm.

SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said the victim said she was walking along the street on her way home from work.

“A vehicle stopped next to her and a male passenger wearing a balaclava exited the vehicle and threatened her with a knife,” said Sekele. “The men then tried to force her inside the vehicle, but she managed to run away.”

As she was running away, she fell and the man grabbed her handbag, ran back to the vehicle and they drove off.

The handbag contained the woman’s identity document, bank card, wallet and keys.

According to a WhatsApp crime group, the vehicle involved was a white Renault Clio with tinted windows and some kind of white writing on the vehicle and no registration number.
