Toastmasters Benoni launches mentorship programme

Tips to build a great mentor and protégé relationship were shared by the guest speaker

Toastmasters Benoni launched a mentorship programme for their members during their online club meeting held on July 22.

The objective of the programme is to assist Toastmasters Benoni members to accelerate their learning in the area of public speaking and leadership.

Club president Kgatile Nkala launched the programme by highlighting the influence that a mentorship relationship can have on both the mentor and protégé.

She also introduced seven mentors who have vast experience in public speaking and leadership, which members could choose to be their mentor.

During the meeting, Nikki Quinn, former district director for Toastmasters District 74 and a distinguished Toastmaster, delivered the keynote speech titled “Mentoring Does Matter”.

Quinn shared tips to a build a great mentor and protégé relationship.

Toastmasters Benoni member Netsai Bingepinge has been appointed as the Mentorship Programme manager to ensure that the programme is a success and to facilitate the matching of protégés with mentors.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, meetings have moved online and take place every second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Guests are welcome to attend the meeting and can obtain the online meeting credentials by sending an email to btsdewitte@gmail.com
