Benoni SPCA closed to public as precaution against spike in Covid-19 infections

Adoptions remain open, however, applications and viewing will be strictly done by appointment

The Benoni SPCA are closed to the public with immediate effect as a precautionary measure due to the current spike in Covid-19 levels.

The society will, however, remain operational as an essential service, with the necessary staff in attendance until further notice.

Diane Wooldridge, chairperson of the society, assured the public that the animals remain safe and cared for.

“While we have been navigating these difficult times and have been operating under strict rules, it goes without saying that it has been tough on all but we will come out of this Covid-19 situation stronger. For us to be able to operate and care for the animals as well as to continue operating the society to the benefit of the animals, it is necessary for us to take this step,” she said.

“We will be obtaining quotes to undergo additional sanitisation. Adoptions will remain open, however, applications and viewing will be strictly done by appointment. Stray and injured after-hours gate (24/7) will remain fully functional and residents can call the office during weekdays (normal hours) 011 894 2814 also our emergency line 073 511 2261.”
