Getpix Creative College situated in Farrarmere has found Google Classroom, Skype and Zoom an appropriate way to teach their learners during the pandemic.

“Learners at Getpix have changed to online studies until the lockdown is lifted,” said the school’s principal, Paula Rutherford.

“Their instructors teach daily from their homes.

“Photographic, graphic design, makeup artistry and film-making students log on to Skype and Zoom to start lessons at 9am.

“All of their modules are downloaded by the students directly from Google Classroom.”

The lessons are then conducted over Skype or Zoom.

Instructors share their screen so that the learners can follow what is being taught.

Learners can also share their screen with their instructors so that instructors can further assist where necessary.

Rutherford explained that one-on-one sessions with an instructor and the learner are also available to assist learners who have questions after the lesson.

Tests are uploaded onto Google Classroom and all marking is completed by the instructors online.?Learners can immediately see their final marks for each module.

The software calculates class averages so that the school is on point with the class progress.

If there are any small colleges or home schools that would like any assistance or help in preparation on Google Classroom, contact Rutherford on 072 110 2873.
