Young entrepreneur proud of her business milestone

Her business has been running for over four years with over 4 000 items of her brand being sold.

ISIPHITHIPHITHI WEARS is a local branding and printing company run by 21-year-old Lebo Monama, who was raised by a single mother in Kingsway, after her father died in a car accident when she was only two years old.

She became an entrepreneur at the age of 17, where she used her bedroom as a storage facility for all her stock and has now moved to a pop-up shop in her yard.

Growing up, she has always been a young energetic child looking to make a change in the world and by starting her business she has done just that.

In 2016 when Lebo was in matric during her business study class, she wrote on a piece of paper that she would have her own business in two years time and what she wrote on that paper came true.

“I have managed to create job opportunities for two people amongst the youth in my small community through my business, I have also printed and designed a brand called Flaba and worked as an assistant in the business Nokhanya”.

She added that she plans on collecting a team of artists and creatives in her community that she could collaborate with to grow her business and the team that she works with.

When the City Times asked Lebo what motivated her to keep going, she said, “I wanted to empower young women in Africa, make them realise that if you have a dream and a destiny to reach, you don’t need a man to help you buy your dreams.

“My life story made me very strong and brave to start and fight for my own dreams”.

Lebo describes herself as an artist, designer, writer, actor, and motivational speaker.

“I never limit myself and I believe that everything that I do today will all collaborate and become one thing in my future”.

Her message to the youth or anyone who would like to start their own business is, “Own your journey, start fighting your fear before your fear overpowers you.?There is something great and beautiful behind that fear.

“Never let yourself down as you cannot afford to fail yourself forever in doing something you do not enjoy”.
