St Francis excited to welcome back their learners

"We have called the parents of the Grade Seven and 12 learners to inform them of our measures, and most parents will be sending their children back to school."

St Francis College is ready to welcome their Grade Seven and 12 learners back to school on June 1.

Principal Gary Elliott said the school has put in place the following precautionary measures to ensure the safety of staff members and learners:

• All staff and learners will be screened and sanitised at different venues.

• Staff will be screened before learners arrive and thereafter learners will be directed to the hall, where they will have their temperature checked and screened.

• Classes will be divided so that only a maximum of 15 learners will be in a class.

• Teachers will be moving around instead of the learners for their different subjects.

• Extra staff have been appointed to ensure learners maintain a social distance at all times, including the amount of learners using the restroom and making sure they wash and sanitise their hands after.

• Learners have been advised to bring books to entertain themselves during lunch time as no playing will be allowed.

• No parents will be allowed on the school premises unless they are there to collect something from reception.

• Learners will be sanitised every time they leave the class and when they return.

• Should a learner’s temperature be over 37.7 degrees, they will be isolated in a special classroom and their parents will be called.

• To allow parents to clean and sanitise the learner’s uniform, they will wear uniform on Mondays, civilian clothes on Tuesdays and so forth,” he said.Elliott added they will provide transport drivers with an information pamphlet on June 1 to ensure they follow the correct protocols.
