Ward 73 councillor Sinethemba Matiwane explained that all buildings have been demolished and underground tunnels have been filled.

The following process needs to take place before the project is complete:

• Filling all the holes with rocks and topping it with river sand to level the ground.

• Paving.

Matiwane suggests the vacant land be fenced off and used by informal traders as he believes this will keep the traders safe and keep the space clean.

In line with Covid-19 regulations only 20 people are working on site, including security.
