Man robbed of R25 000 after bank following in Northmead

A case of armed robbery was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

A man was robbed of R25 000 after a bank following on Webb Street, in Northmead on May 7.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said it is alleged that the man’s boss sent him to the bank to get change and to also do some deliveries.

“When he was done at the bank, he went to Webb Street to make a delivery. Suddenly, a white Toyota Corolla parked behind his vehicle,” said Sekele.

“One man came out of the Toyota and blocked the man from entering into the property on Webb Street.”

Sekele said he was then threatened with a firearm; the robbers took the money and fled the scene.No arrests have been made and police are investigating.
