Ekurhuleni residents who feel the same need look no further than Caxton Radio, where Benoni’s internationally acclaimed country songstress HunTer Leite is now charming the airwaves as the latest hot addition to the streaming station’s line-up of presenters.

According to Caxton Radio’s Paul Rotherham, HunTer’s The Country Countdown show on Sunday nights from 6pm to 9pm has been, pardon the pun, an absolute hit with streaming listeners.
HunTer had recorded a country show and submitted it to another radio station for consideration, but when she did not hear back from them the award-winning country artist decided to put the show on YouTube for all her fans to enjoy.
“I also sent Paul a copy and was over the moon to get a very positive response from him,” HunTer said.
“The Country Countdown kicked off on Caxton Radio at the beginning of April and I’m having so much fun doing it and interacting with listeners.
“I absolutely love presenting and sharing music in all forms.
“Country, however, is close to my heart as its such real music, there’s a story behind every song and it’s generally feel-good music.
“And, of course, country music is what opened the world’s eyes to me as a performer and vocalist.”

About HunTer
She grew up on a plot in Benoni Small Farms and recalls herself being “a real farm girl” with horses, cows and sheep as pets, and the odd chicken and bunny.
“I went to Rynfield Primary School, where I was into drama and sports,” HunTer said.
“Singing lessons started at age 13 and my tutor was Tanya Kramer in Morehill.”

“I won several diplomas at eisteddfods in high school for public speaking and song performances in several different genres, like adult contempary, country, rock, pop, ballads, pub sing-alongs and gospel.”

HunTer does covers with a mix of her own original songs in English, Afrikaans and Portuguese.
She was nominated for the Josie Music Awards 2019, hosted at Dollywood in Tennessee, and won World Music Artist of the Year.

In addition to this, HunTer won Best Female Vocalist 2017 and 2019 at the Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards in Texas.
She recently released her country album, Kicking up Dust, a 12-track album which was written over four years. Each song with an inspiring story behind it.
Album launches took place in South Africa, the USA, Australia and New Zealand
