Metro urges residents to look after their wheelie bins

Bins should be put out at 7am on the day of collection indicated on your calendar.

The Ekurhuleni metro is urging resident to look after their 240-litre wheelie bins by adhering to the following guidelines:

• Bins should be removed from the kerbside as soon as possible after they have been emptied.

• Make sure the lid of your bin is closed to avoid littering and rodent access.

•All supplied wheelie bins remain the property of the metro and should not be painted or marked.

• When moving houses, the wheelie bin remains at the address in which they were originally allocated.

• No additional refuse bags are to be placed next to the bin.

The following should not be disposed of inside the bin:

• Rocks and soil

•Commercial, industrial or building waste

• Car batteries

• Gas cylinders

• Motor oil and solvents

• Fire arms or explosives

• Dead animals

• Any hazardous items
